Recreation Ground

Donated to the town in memory of those who died in 2 world wars, for the express purpose of recreation, the recreation ground is centrally positioned in the town alongside the Dolphins Hall.

For formal sports Tetbury Town Football Club lease two full size football pitches and two mini football pitches, Tetbury Rugby Club leases an area for its rugby pitch and Tetbury Cricket Club maintains a cricket square. In addition a separate area has been walled off to provide a bowling green for Tetbury Bowls Club.

Informal recreation is catered for by a recently enlarged children’s play area, with climbing frames, swings, slides and adventure type equipment.

Also extended in 2013 was the skateboard area where a new skate bowl was built

Both children’s play area and skateboard park were secured by Lottery funding.

The recreation ground is also a temporary home for Tetbury Youth Club, operating out from a pod. This provides activities for up to 20 young people 2 evenings a week and will increase when the club eventually moves into dedicated space in the new Dolphins Hall.

In 2013 the recreation ground won a highly commended award in the Gloucestershire Playground of the year competition.

Many open events are held on the ground, including Tetbury’s traditional Summer Show and the recently introduced Classic Car Show.
